Besson BE2056-2-0 Prestige Professional range Baritone Baritone Horn Bb Silver Plated
We think:
Besson’s collaboration with leading baritone performers has resulted in an awareness of the vitality and essence of this instrument that has seen the Prestige and Sovereign baritones remain at the very top of its league. Epitomizing the values that have made the Besson brand world-famous, these stylish instruments have helped to establish the baritone’s unique voice in the brass band. The sound can never be confused with its larger cousin the euphonium, as it maintains its purity and elegance despite a thrilling range of dynamic contrasts. The precision of the valve design, put simply, is the best in the brand’s great history, convincing all performers of their absolute reliability under all conditions. They will never let you down, which must come as a feeling of complete reassurance after all those hours of practising.
The BESSON PRESTIGE 2056 BARITONE is the four-valve compensating baritone, facilitating exactly the same full chromatic range as the euphonium of up to five octaves, should you ever need it! A lot of the modern writing for the baritone seeks to utilise the lower notes, dipping below the normal lowest note of F sharp, especially for solo players and those who enjoy the challenge of playing solos for the euphonium or saxhorn. The presence of the 4th valve also enables a wide range of alternate fingers to be used that facilitates the performance of countless difficult phrases. The slightly heavier weight of the Prestige compared to the Sovereign also gives this instrument a different tonal characteristic, perhaps more concentrated yet still alive and vibrant, and in the hands of the world’s greatest baritone soloists and band players we hear all these possibilities gloriously demonstrated.
