Proud to Achieve Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation Status: Our Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

We are delighted to announce that we have been accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation by the UN-recognised Carbon Literacy Project.

This prestigious accreditation recognises our commitment to upskill our team members to play a proactive role in reducing our organisational carbon emissions and work towards a zero-carbon future.

Carbon Literacy is defined as “An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis,” and revolves around a day’s worth of learning and action on climate change.

Our Carbon Literacy training programme has been delivered by our Director, Andy, who has also been certified as a Carbon Literacy Facilitator.

To become accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation, we have already trained over half of our staff across all departments in Carbon Literacy.

Our pledges range from cycling to work, improving our returns process and rethinking how we use emails within the business. We have also established a dedicated Green Team who meet regularly to monitor our sustainability efforts and manage our ongoing plan to ensure we stay on track with our environmental goals.

Being accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation is an important achievement for us because it:

  • Supports our staff to collaborate in identifying and implementing opportunities for carbon reduction on an organisational scale.
  • Demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a low-carbon organisational culture.
  • Enables us to drive faster action on climate change.
  • Sets a positive example of sustainability leadership in our industry.

Beyond our Carbon Literacy accreditation, we continue to invest in a range of sustainability initiatives. Our ReTune instrument recycling scheme gives unwanted musical instruments a new lease of life, reducing waste and reinvesting in music education. With the support of a grant from Staffordshire Business and Environment Network, we have significantly improved our building's energy efficiency, an effort that was recognised with an award for Outstanding Contribution. Additionally, through our partnership with Earthly, we contribute to nature-based projects that restore ecosystems and capture carbon.

These actions form part of our wider commitment to reducing our environmental impact and promoting a greener future for our business, community and the music education sector. Find out more about our sustainability journey on our dedicated page: Sustainability
