Brown Tenor Recorder from Aulos

This is a Tenor recorder in the key of C. It has a dark brown body with a cream coloured mouthpiece to add definition to its appearance. It produces a warm tone and comes supplied with a mustard coloured case. It also comes supplied with a thumb rest, cleaning rod and fingering chart.

The recorder is very simple to play - just place your lips over the mouthpiece blow into it directing the air through the small hole. The vibrations this causes produces the desired sound. Different sounds and tunes are produced by placing your fingers over the holes in various sequences. Each sound or note name has a particular finger pattern called fingering.

The recorder was first introduced in the 12th century and is still widely used today! It is a simple instrument to learn and play and is often the first choice for young children being introduced to real musical instruments for the first time.

The recorder belongs to the woodwind family and can be made from either plastic or wood - It is in basic terms a straight pipe-like device with finger holes along the front and a thumb hole in the back with a "beak" shaped mouthpiece which is detachable. Formally known as the "English Flute" the recorder comes in a range of sizes from the Sopranino Recorder to the Bass.
