The A-Star Rainbow Chime Bar Set is a set of eight individually coloured chime bars covering a full C major octave (C64–C76), built from robust wood and aluminium for classroom life. Supplied with two wooden beaters and a storage bag, it suits whole-class teaching, small groups and home music-making for ages 3 and up.

Who are these chime bars for?

What is a chime bar?

A chime bar is a single tuned note — a metal bar mounted on its own resonator, struck with a beater for a clear, bell-like tone. A set of eight covers a full scale, like a glockenspiel whose notes can be shared out around a group.

Why use chime bars instead of a glockenspiel in class?

Because the notes separate: eight children can hold one note each and play a tune together, which teaches listening, timing and ensemble skills in a way a single instrument cannot. For individual players, a glockenspiel with more notes takes over later.

What songs can you play with 8 notes in C major?

A full C major octave covers most early classroom repertoire — nursery rhymes, simple folk tunes and the melodies in KS1 music schemes are overwhelmingly written within these eight notes.

What is the difference between this set and the version with a case?
