Is a plastic recorder as good as a wooden one for a beginner?

For beginners, plastic is usually the better choice: it is more durable, easier to clean, unaffected by moisture and far cheaper, while still producing a clear, reliable tone. Wooden recorders reward advanced players but need much more careful maintenance.

Is a descant recorder the same as a soprano recorder?

Yes — descant and soprano are two names for the same instrument. "Descant" is the traditional British term, while "soprano" is used internationally. It is the standard recorder used in UK primary schools.

What is the difference between this and the beige A-Star recorder?

How do you look after a plastic recorder?
