What is the difference between the Axus AXK5 and AXK4?

The AXK5 has larger 8-inch mesh pads (vs 6.5-inch), 10-inch cymbals (vs 9-inch), 25 preset kits plus 25 custom slots (vs 15 kits), a kick-drum pedal tower and an onboard recording function. The AXK4 is the simpler, cheaper starter kit with three teaching modes. Both bundles include a stool, headphones and drumsticks.

Can you practise silently on the AXK5?

Yes. With headphones plugged into the 3.5mm jack, the only sound in the room is the sticks tapping the mesh pads and the pedals being played — far quieter than an acoustic kit, and practical for evening practice in flats and family homes.

Can the AXK5 record your playing?

Yes, in two ways: the module has a built-in record and playback function for reviewing practice, and the USB MIDI output connects to a computer for recording into music software.

Are mesh drum heads better than rubber pads?

For most players, yes — mesh heads bounce and respond more like a real drumhead, are quieter under the stick, and on the AXK5 every pad is mesh. Rubber pads are common on cheaper kits but feel stiffer and louder.

Should a beginner choose an electronic or acoustic drum kit?
