The Axus AXF12 is a full 88-note digital piano that folds in half: semi-weighted keys, 128 voices and rhythms, a rechargeable battery giving up to 6 hours of playing, and an included carry bag and sustain pedal. Is a folding piano good enough to learn on?

Yes for beginners and improvers: it has the full 88-key range, a responsive semi-weighted action and a sustain pedal, so technique and repertoire develop properly. Advanced pianists preparing for exams on acoustic pianos will eventually want fully weighted hammer-action keys — at that stage, a stage piano such as the Axus AXD55 is the step up.

What does semi-weighted mean?

Semi-weighted keys have a light spring resistance — firmer than a basic keyboard, lighter than an acoustic piano's hammer action. It is a practical middle ground that keeps the folded instrument light while still building finger strength and control.
