The Forenza Uno 1/2 Size Violin Outfit is an affordable, entry-level first violin for children aged 8–10, supplied with a wooden bow with natural horsehair, a rosin block and a lightweight case. Like every violin, it will need tuning — and often a little setting up — before the first lesson.

What age fits a 1/2 size violin?

Roughly ages 8–10, though arm length matters more than age: with the violin under the chin and the left arm extended, the scroll should sit comfortably in the palm. A teacher or our size guide can confirm in a minute.

Does the violin need setting up before it is played?

Yes — like every violin, the bridge can shift in transit and the strings will always need tuning before playing. It is worth having a teacher or shop check the bridge position, then tuning with the four fine tuners before the first lesson.

Does my child need a shoulder rest?
